The Greene County boys basketball team had a two win, one loss week for their final week of regular-season play.
The Rams hosted Woodward-Granger in the first round of Class 2A District action Monday, Feb. 13. The Rams won 68-46 and will play Kuemper Catholic in Carroll on Thursday, Feb. 16. The District final game is scheduled on Feb. 21 with the Substate contest on Feb. 25.
On Feb. 6, the Rams hosted Southeast Valley High School, taking the win 60-53.
A big second quarter provided the spark the Rams needed to defeat Southeast Valley. The Jaguars held an 11-10 lead in the first but GC poured it on in the second to go into the break leading 28-21. They lengthened their lead in the third to 44-33 and picked up the non-conference win.
Jesse Miller notched a double / double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Richard Daugherty tossed in 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Brynley Ruzicka put up 10 points with three assists, and Parker Fitzpatrick added five rebounds.
The Rams played at Wells Fargo Arena against Saydel on Tuesday, winning 81-45.
The Eagles held a 14-9 lead in the first quarter but the Rams turned the tide in the second, leading 26-24 at halftime. There was no stopping GC in the second half as they poured in 29 points in the third quarter and 24 in the fourth to blow out Saydel 81-45.
Three players scored in double figures with Ruzicka leading the way with 23 points; Richard Daugherty 21 points and eight assists; and Miller 14 points and eight rebounds.
For their last regular-season game, the Rams hosted Treynor, falling 76-45.
Treynor took control of the game in the first quarter and never allowed the Rams to challenge them. The Cardinals blew open a 29-12 first quarter lead and were up 43-28 at the break The second half was more of the same as Treynor picked up the victory.
Richard Daugherty scored 12 points, Ruzicka added 11 and Miller put up seven points.
